ACCEPT IMPERFECTION by Suzy Loudon

With Halloween nearly upon us I felt inspired to create something spooky. So here goes.

To begin with I tore up some print paper then using a clear gesso sealed the whole page.

Using the Imprinted A4 Stencil I spread Heavy White Gesso around the page.

I sprayed my page with water before dropping Spice & Cider Artist Inks. Tilting my page around I dried it with a heat gun, moving the ink around.

I did the same thing with Soot Artist Ink. As the water was sprayed it did slightly re-activate what was dried changing it all over again.

I watered down some Heavy Black Gesso & splattered it around before painting around the edges.

Using the Black Gesso I then painted some metal charms. I later rubbed some coloured rub on them to highlight.

Using Road Base Colour Spray I coloured some muslin & dried off gently with my heat gun.

Using Steel Embossing Powder I embossed some chipboard.

Then embossed my other chipboard with Dusty Charcoal Embossing Paper.

Using my Shimmer Pen I went over my black web die cuts.
Then it was time to put it all together & I'm done.

Steampunk Inspired Coffin by Suzy Loudon

As Halloween approaches I decided to decorate a cute little coffin I picked up. I decided to go Steampunk. I had lots of fun making it. Especially as it has a light activated scary laugh which kept going off each time the lid was opened.

It started off as a simple wooden coffin.

First step was to paint it with Heavy Black Gesso.

I used some texture paste through a variety of stencils.

Once dry I used gel medium to stick a all sorts of metals down. I left this overnight to dry well.

It was then time for a very thorough coat of black gesso. At this point I also painted the inside.

Using Leather & Dusty Charcoal Texture Pastes, I put a small amount out onto my craft mat. Using my finger I dabbed the paste over some areas of the metals.

I activated my Shimmer Cubes with water. If you don't have the cubes you can also use your Shimmer Sprays using a paint brush.
The colours I used were Steel, Dusty Charcoal, Leather, Bling, Sienna & Deep Water.

I first painted the around the charms using Steel (onto the actual coffin).

Then using the other colours I painted onto the metals until I was happy. After picking up the colour from each of the cubes I used my craft mat to dab of any excess giving me more control on colouring & highlighting.

I used all the excess on my craft mat to give the inside a little colour.

For the inside I cut out the coffin shape in some packing cardboard. I then painted it with Heavy White Gesso as the material I used to cover it was sheer.

I took photos of all sides.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Summer Paradise by Suzy Loudon

Hello again. I thought as summer draws near and our weather heats up it was time for a nice bright layout. So what better way than with a photo from last summer in Fiji...oh the memories...I want to go back.

To begin my layout I backed some torn white card onto some coloured paper & black cardstock. I then sealed my page with some Mod Podge.

I spread some Snow White Colour Paste through a diamond stencil.

Once the Paste was dry I sprayed Bubblegum, Sapphire & Roadbase Colour Sprays alternating sprays & also adding some sprays of water to make the colour spread more.

My chipboard title I first painted with Heavy White Gesso

I activated my Sunshine, Tangareen Dream & Fire Engine Colour Shimmer Cubes with water. I then painted my chipboard title with an ombre effect.

I embossed my small letters in Dusty Charcoal Embossing Powder.

I added a few summer die cuts, backed my photo on some card & popped it up with cardboard to give some depth.

I love adding Colour Sprays on Snow White Paste giving it a different shimmer

Cherish The Time by Suzy Loudon

Hello everyone. Welcome back to the Colour Blast Blog where there's always plenty to see & lots of inspiration.
It's not often we get am family picture so today I'm sharing a page of just that during a fun day at Seaworld.

To begin my page I coated my cardstock with Mod Podge to seal it as I wanted my sprays to sit on the page rather than soak into the cardstock.
I sprayed Coffee Colour Spray onto my acrylic block, gave it a spray of water, then turned my block upside down & stamped it onto my page,

I did this until I had the coverage I wanted.

I did the same thing with Mocha Colour Spray building up layers.

Using Lagoon Colour Spray I did the same again.

Using the new Colour Shimmer Spray in Sienna I added a light spray. I took 2 photos as the left one with the flash shows up the shimmer a lot better.

A tap of Roadbase Colour Spray around the page & my background was done.

I used Deep Water Colour Embossing Powder on some chipboard.

I did 2 layers with Dusty Charcoal Colour Embossing Powder on some more chipboard.

My chipboard letters for my title I used the new colour in Sienna with 2 layers of Colour Embossing Powder. I later glued on some micro beads (you can see that in a close up later)

I sprayed a chipboard clock with Roadbase Colour Spray.

I wanted to add some cogs as embellishments, but so they wouldn't get lost with all the brown colours I added some Colour Embossing Powder on sections in Deep Water, Leather & Sienna. But be very careful as when you heat the metal it gets really hot. so be patient & wait for it to cool a little before touching.

I added to background paper to mat my photo, also using cardboard between my layers for depth.
Put it all together & it was done.

Thanks for stopping by.
