Faux Mixed Media Layout by Julie Schinkel

Hi everyone, I'm back on the Bee Arty blog today sharing a layout created using the brand new "Fearless, Brave and Free" collection by Fiona Paltridge. If you don't like getting your hands dirty using mixed media products, I'll show you how you can get around that problem using this collection.

To start, cut out a frame using the B side of the "Positive" 12x12 paper, then cut a piece of the Bee Arty white cardstock down to 11" x 11".

Lightly stencil the top left and bottom right of the photo area using the "Free Hand" A5 stencil and black ink. I added more stenciling after I had finished as my original stenciling was hidden under the layers. Stamp randomly using the "Fearless" Clear Stamp and black ink. I wanted a softer look so I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot, but any black ink will work.

Fussy cut the largest blue area on the "Comfort Zone" 12x12 paper, cut in half. Fussy cut some of the splotches from the "Strength" and "Chance" 12x12 papers. I've circled the areas that I have used. Adhere as shown on the finished layout.

Cut two circles from the B side of the "Strength" 12x12 paper. Cut one in half and adhere as shown on the finished layout.

Fussy cut the circled elements from both of the "Leap" and the reverse cover bonus sheet 12x12 papers. Adhere as shown. Cut the title from the "Free" 12x12 Word Sheet.

Once all your layers are down add further stenciling, also lightly stencil over the coloured splotches to tie it all together. I had some washi tape sitting on my desk so I decided to add some for some extra contrast.

Die cut the "Frame" Metal Die five times from black cardstock and adhere. This will add some dimension and strength to the frame and also give it a 'chipboard' look. Adhere frame and photo to the layout. Adhere the second black circle and title onto the bottom corner of the frame.

Here are some close ups so you can see how I've created the page.
