BEE YOU ... BEE WONDERFUL by Linda Pearson

A little card front created or small journal page using the beautiful Bee the Sunshine paper collection kit designed by Fiona Paltridge.

Bee the Sunshine paper collection kit  - sunny days cards and tags

Floral Arrangement clear stamp set

Pretty Fields 12x12 scrapbooking paper

White Cardstock 350gsm

Colour blast Shimmer Dusts – assorted colour

I cut the Pretty Fields 12x12 scrapbooking paper down to suit the card (at least 6x 8 inch), up to A4 journal size.

Cut 2 cards from the Sunny Days paper to suit (see main image example).

Stamp out the floral stems and glass vase stamps from the Floral Arrangement clear stamp set using black archival ink onto White Cardstock 350gsm.  Use the thicker card when adding Colour blast Shimmer Dusts as water will be mixed to colour the stamped elements.

Mix the chosen Colour blast Shimmer Dusts in a paint palette with water, stirring to activate the powder.  Colour the stems - flowers, leaves and add a little colour to the jar.

From the Bee the Sunshine paper collection kit  - sunny days cards and tags and cut out Bee You image from the sheet.

Once dry, distress the all the elements, flowers, jar, bee you and the edges of the cut cards as well as the main larger card piece.

Using diluted white paint or gesso add splatter to the main background piece and the two smaller embellishment pieces.

Optional step:  add strips of coordinating washi tape where the vase of flowers will be placed on page (this is to anchor the main image to the page.

Adhere the two rectangle card pieces as per the main image.  Secure foam tape behind the bee you honeycomb image then secure to the page connecting the two card images.

Adhere the vase and flowers to the page resting on the washi tape.

Handwrite the words bee wonderful in black pen across the bottom of the page.

Thank you for stopping by and look forward to sharing with you again soon.

Cheers from Linda

Mixed Media ATCs by Sunila Mahajan

 Hello Lovelies,

Sunila here, and I'm back with a mixed media tutorial for you all. The new release Saltwater collection is a beautiful escape to the beach. Today I decided to make a set of Beach themed ATCs using the collection.

Here's a look at the ATCs

Let's begin creating these.

Step 1: Start with two pieces of white mixed media paper cut to 2.5"x 3.5".  We'll use the stamp set to create the background as well as focal elements.

Step 2: In a palette mix mica powders with water to create the colours. Use a paintbrush and apply the colours onto the stamp and stamp them on the paper to create texture in the background.

Step 3: Stamp a few elements on a separate piece of card stock with brown ink.

Step 4: Colour the elements with artist inks.

Step 5: Die cut elements for layering using the dies.

Step 6: Layer all the elements and create a composition.

Step 7: Finish them by adding sequins and splatter.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Hugs,

Sunila

Rustic Blossom Journal page By Sandi Spink

I love to journal as it provides me the opportunity to just let my creativity flow from my fingertips as I spread the medium I use, such as gesso and paint, onto my page. It relaxes me and help to explore the products I use in a deeper way.

This journal page was one of these pages. I was experimenting in how to make the BeeArty Shimmer Dust into a paint, like the consistency of acrylic paints which I also love to use.

 Products used:

  • Heavy White Gesso
  • Clear gel medium
  •  'Life of Colour' paint pens
 'Rustic Blossom' kit including:
  • Papers- strips of 'Crackled' side B
  • Papers- 'Storytime' phrases.
  • Tan 'Shimmer Dust'
  • Stencil- 'Alphabet Jumble'
  • Stamp- 'Owl punk' clear stamp set
  • Using my fingers ( you could use fingers, paint brushes or scrappers) I sealed my pages of my old book journal with 'Heavy White Gesso'. After it dried, I glued 3 torn strips of the Rustic Blossom 'Crackled' paper onto the pages. Then softened the paper to blend it into the white background by adding more gesso over the surface using both a scrapper and my fingers.

  •  I added squares of varying sizes over my page (odd numbers work best) with Tan 'Shimmer Dust paint' I made. To make the paint I mixed  'Shimmer Dust powder' and water together into a thick mix consistent with acrylic paint. When applying the paint with your brush you will find that several colours can show up. I discovered that a blue appeared when I used my finger to add some gesso to smooth some of the paint. I used this to my advantage as it matching in with my papers. Where I added the paint thicker it stayed different shades of tan/deep brown. This effect was purely discovered through experimentation so go take the chance to experiment, if it doesn't work out how you like you can always cover it with more gesso 'Gesso is your friend' or whilst wet a wet one can also be used. If the colour seperation doesn't
  • I continued to add layers including stamping and stenciling, phrases/words from 'Storytime' paper, journalling and out-lining with black and white 'Life of Colour' paint pens'

Hope I have inspired you to get in touch with your creativity and you get to explore and experiment with the BeeArty mediums and products.

Happy creating

By The Sea - With Karyn Schultz!

  Hi Bee Arty Lovelies!

It's Karyn here and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using lots of fabulous arty products from the new Saltwater collection at Bee Arty.

I wanted to create a mixed media element to add to my background so I started with a sheet of 350gsm Heavy White Cardstock cut down to 21cm x 25cm. I used a painting with plastic technique to apply Oasis and Mermaid Colour Artist Ink. I started with straight ink on the plastic but found the colour depth too deep for my liking so I experimented and added more water to the ink with each application of the "painting with plastic". This resulted in lots of shades of each of the 2 colours. I let each application/colour dry before applying the next. Lastly I added Bling Mica Powder mixed with water in places across the page.

I felt that this painty page had too much colour and was too "busy" but once it was attached to a background piece of Vast and Deep Paper (reverse) and had 2 photos placed at the top I was happy with the effect.

Here is my completed page.

Under my photo I added some white gauze and diecuts created using the Sea Script Metal Die and papers from the Saltwater Paper Collection Pack.

Images were fussy cut from the Something Fishy Paper. The title is cut from the H2O Paper. The white gauze, cabochons, wood veneer, flair, and metal flip-flops are from my stash.

Bricks and mortar by Linda Pearson

For today’s blog entry I was feeling in a painterly mood and wanted to try out a new technique using a stamp in a different way.  I chose the City Lights stamp and the Distressed Bricks A5 stencil to create this painting.  The substrate I used was a canvas media board from Dina Wakely but a heavy cardstock (350gsm +), journal or canvas can easily be utilised.

Bee Arty products used in the project:

City lights clear stamp set
Shimmer dust – (assorted colours)
Mica powder (assorted colours)
Distressed bricks A5 stencil (Rustic Dreams collection)
Catalyst silicone mini blades tool
Craft Powder Spoon
Darice 6 well paint palette

Bee Arty has a variety of stamps that could be used alternatively with this process:
Eye spy clear stamp set
Kind heart clear stamp set
New dawn clear stamp set
Serendipity clear stamp set
Time flies clear stamp set
Zen red rubber stamp set

Other products used:
Moulding paste (thick texture paste)
Dina Wakley media board
Dark brown (umber) fluid paint
Dark brown archival ink and blending tool

Apply a layer of texture paste through the
Distressed bricks A5 stencil (Rustic Dreams collection) over the top section of the media board using a Catalyst silicone mini blades tool.  While still wet apply a liberal amount of textured paste over the rest of the substrate.

Press firmly the City lights clear stamp set into the wet texture paste to form a good impression in the paste.   Remove stamp and allow to dry thoroughly as watery mixes of colour will be added to the dried paste.

In the Darice 6 well paint palette add small amounts of Shimmer dust in a variety of colours to suit the stamped and stencilled images.  Using a small round brush to colour the images as desired.  Please note: some colours were mixed together and some Mica powder was added to produce colours also.   Also the water mixes may activate the textured paste if not died sufficiently before adding colour to piece.  Allow to dry thoroughly when complete.

Add detailing to the image by using a darker brown (or appropriate colour e.g. black to suit colour choices).  A fluid mix is required and a fine liner brush to add the brown colour to the shape of the indented sections of the stamped image.
Distress around the border of the substrate with dark brown archival ink and blending tool.

Thank you for stopping by, look forward to sharing with you again soon.
Cheers from Linda

Fancy by Charmane Koch

Happy Wednesday everyone! How do these days just fly past so quickly!

Just wanted to share a quick layout I created at retreat... again!

This one was playing around with Shimmer Dusts and water - watering them down so that give a nice light watercolour to match with the gorgeous Moonshadows Dragonfly Dance paper....

What I wanted was to add more Dragonflies using the Dragonfly Flight stencil and Thick White gesso, then once dried with Heat gun I added Lollipop, Passion & Peacock to colour random dragonflies...

I was gifted the Die Cut leaves {THANKS Amanda H!} & decided to colour with Lush Shimmer Dust too...

More closeups...

As you can see I have also used some Moonshadows papers to layer behind my photo...

And I also stuck some Muslin that I had coloured with Passion to give a bit more texture.

I have used:

And the Shimmers:
Lollipop, Lush & Passion & Peacock

Just a simple but fun page to get the creative juices flowing! I had fun with this one!

Love my "fancy" coffee cups while out at sports!

Thanks for popping by!

Let's Make Waves - With Karyn Schultz!

 Hi Bee Arty Lovelies!

It's Karyn here and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using lots of fabulous arty products from the new Saltwater collection at Bee Arty.

I started with a sheet of 350gsm Heavy White Cardstock and added stencilling using the School Of Fish stencil and Snow White Colour Paste.

Next I added colour to the background. I mixed colour in 3 Mini Misters. In the first Mini Mister I mixed 3 drops Oasis Colour Artist Ink, small scoop Snow White Mica Powder (for bling) and 9 drops water. In the second Mini Mister I mixed 3 drops Mermaid Colour Artist Ink and 9 drops water. In the third Mini Mister I mixed 3 drops Lime Colour Artist Ink and 9 drops water. Each colour was sprayed onto the page as shown, letting each colour dry before applying the next colour. If you want a darker or lighter colour add less/more water in each mister. Then I added splatters of each colour.

I added background stamping using the Salty Dots stamp and a blue ink pad, then the bubble stamp from the Aquatic Life Stamp Set and a yellow ink pad. This stamping was done under/around where the photo was going and along the left edge of the page (sorry, no photo).

Here is my completed page.

I matted my photo using papers from the Saltwater Paper Collection Pack. I've added diecuts using the Sea Script Metal Die and papers from the Saltwater Paper Collection Pack. Images were fussy cut from the Something Fishy Paper. The white gauze, cabochons and metal starfish are from my stash.

I added a barcode strip, from one of the papers in the Saltwater Paper Collection Pack, along the LHS as well as an embellishment cluster using more fussy cuts and a title from the H2O Paper. Using dimensional foam under titles and fussy cuts adds texture and dimension to the page.

I just love the colours and designs in this collection :)
