"Love you", using a Michelle Grant Stencil - by Amanda H.

Hello all,

During the recent Brisbane Papercraft Expo, I had the chance to teach alongside the talented Michelle Grant. She has designed some new stencils. I was lucky enough to get some and the bird stencil from her Flights of Fantasy range features on my page today. These stencils are great for off the page canvases or art journals, but I am a scrapbooker, so I used the stencil for this scrapbook page today.

Here is a sneak peak of the page - look at that beautiful bird!

First, let's look at how I created the page.

I used a pencil to trace the bird stencil onto a sheet of white cardstock.

Next, I used some Fineline masking fluid over the pencil lines.

Using Colour Artist Inks, in Marine, Oasis and Mermaid, I washed my page in colour.
The masking fluid resists the ink, leaving the outline of the bird.
Once it was dry, I pulled off the masking fluid lines to reveal the white outline of the bird.

Next, I added some stamping on the page.
Finally, to colour the bird, I mixed some White Heavy Gesso with Colour Artist Inks in Citrus. The mix produced a lovely medium to paint the bird.
Next, I added some Colour Artist Ink in Slipper, to make a soft pink, which I painted on the breast of the bird.
Once my bird was dry, I added some Colour Paste in Snow White to the page through a stencil.
The last step for the beautiful bird was some shimmer. I added this using the Shimmer Brush Markers to the breast of the bird.
Despite using bright blues and turquoises on the background, the soft pink on the bird, gave me good reason to add embellishments in all these colours to finish the page.
And here is the final page.

You can see my finishing embellishments, as well as the black outline I doodled around the outside of the page to frame it.

And clusters of blue and pink flowers!
And this sweet little bird!
I love the glittery translucent effect of the Snow white paste over the bright background.

Thank you little birdie for being the heart and soul of this layout... and thank you to Michelle Grant for her amazing designs. You can find Michelle's stencils in the Colour Blast store now!
