"Miss 9" by Amanda H

Hi Colour Blasters!

In the midst of winter, I thought I would share a bright summery page of my daughter's birthday pool party. I decided to crack out my Colour Sprays for this. These are a water-based dye spray - so bright and so many colours; they really are a versatile spray!

First, here is a sneak peek before we get into the instructions, final page and close ups!

I started with a white paper bag (probably came home with me filled with some goodies from the recent Scrapbook show!) and I gave it a good scrunch and then flattened it out.
I chose some Colour Sprays: I started with Carribean, Sapphire (the blues) and Bubblegum (the pink).
I did some sprays of the colour up close and some further away.
At the end I decided to introduce some green, so I add a few sprays of Rainforest Colour Spray.
This is one of those moments, where you leave to dry and come back a few days later to decide what you might do with it...!!!!!!!
In the end, I cut four wide strips from the paper, so that I could stick them as panels on some white cardstock.
Once the panels were stuck, I added some extra texture and colour with Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste through a stencil.
I also needed to add some splatters and in my opinion the new Colour Shimmer Cubes create the best splatters possible! A few squirts of water and then colour flicked of the end of a paintbrush. I used the colours Dusty Charcoal, Envy and Apply of My Eye in the cubes for the splatters.
While this was drying, I coloured some of my other bits and pieces I needed to finish my layout. First I used Colour Spray in Bubblegum to spray colour on a white paper doily.
Similarly, I also gave a squirt of Colour Spray in Bubblegum on a diecut flamingo.
For some extra shine I also painted the flamingo using the Blush Colour Shimmer Cube. I also ended up painting some Envy Colour Shimmer Cube to the eye and wing of the flamingo.
Finally I found some tropical silver leaf charms and embossed them using the always beautiful Apple of My Eye Colour Embossing Powder. I dipped it back in the pot a few times to get a thick and glossy coating.
Things always seem to be finished with a few rich black splatters using the Roadbase Colour Spray.
Let's see how the page all came together. I used some machine stitching and doodling on the paper panels at the back, before layering up my photos and embellishments.
This is why Colour Shimmer Cube splatters are the best... they sit some brightly and clearly on top of all your other layers of mixed media. They hold their colour and shine and look amazing!

I love the embossed leaves nestled amongst some other pretties!
Thanks for looking... now how many days until summer?!
Take care,
Amanda
