Hi everyone. Welcome back to the Colour Blast Blog. I hope I can inspire you with today's layout. I don't normally use orange but I'm really happy with my finished layout.

To begin my layout I smeared Heavy White Gesso over my paper with my palette knife.

Using a juicy paint brush I soaked up my Barley Artist Ink & spread it over my gesso.

Using my heat gun I dried it, moving the ink around giving it some darker water marks.

Using my Stencil Girl stencil I spread through some Heavy White Gesso. I picked up the Barley Artist Ink giving it the orange look.

Using Stormy Weather  Colour Paste I spread it through another stencil.

While I waited for my paste to dry I painted some white flowers with the Barley Artist Ink.

I added some Walnut  Artist Ink into a water pen then painted some more white flowers.

I then dipped my tip straight into the ink tapping it onto the flower tips.

I painted my chipboard with the Walnut Artist Ink.

Using a sponge I sponged Heavy White Gesso through a stencil.

I embossed my chipboard with Stormy Weather Colour  Embossing Powder & heat activated it. Then very quickly before it set pressed a crackle stamp into it.

I matted my photo. Putting cardboard behind my layers to give it depth.

I painted my title with Heavy White Gesso the gave it a coat of Glossy Accents.

I roughly painted my chipboard leaves with Walnut Artist Ink

I then gave them a thorough coat of Grass Artist Ink.

After I stuck all my elements down I covered my photo before giving it a splash with watered down Heavy White Gesso.

Resist Techniques with Selena Stevens

A technique I am going to show you today is “resist”.  It’s a fun and easy technique where a medium is placed on the paper and when a second medium is placed over the first it “resists” and doesn’t colour that area.

Here is a timelapse video of this resist process and I have included a bonus art journal page.

So, lets begin …

To start I gathered up all the items that I thought might create a resist effect as well some items I wasn’t sure about.  These included from left to right Colour Embossing Powder (Snow White), China Marker, Ball point pen, Heavy White Gesso, Washi tape, wax crayon and gelato.

I then sprayed and painted over these mediums to see the effect.  From top to bottom I used Colour Shimmer Spray (Leather), Colour Spray (Mocha), Colour Shimmer Dust (Midnight), Colour Artist Ink (Rust), Colour Shimmer Cube (Leather).

This is an art journal page that was a quick sketch to show the resist technique using the above mediums as well as Colour Artist Ink (Cranberry).

Hi Colour Blast fans!

There are so many ways that we can combine Colour Blast products. Today I have layered numerous products and elements for my page. I have gone with orange colour tones (perhaps my theme for May!?) but this time teamed it with neutrals, black and metallic steel colours.

Here is a sneak peek before I show you how I created the page.

First I used Black Heavy Gesso through a stencil on some Kraft cardstock.

Once it was dry, I cut the paper into strips,

And inked the edges of each strip with black ink.

Then I added random painting and splatters on the strips with Colour Artist Ink in Spice.

I planned to cut the strips to random lengths and have them as messy, overlapping layers on the page.

For some extra touches, I decided to do some heat embossing on the strips. I used an embossing pen to randomly add liquid - in and around the circle designs, which I then heat set.

I used Colour Embossing Powder in Steel for this.

I stitched the strips to my background.

I added more circular elements with some stamping, on the strips and on the background.

Then I painted some of the stamped images using Colour Artist Inks in Spice and Bordeaux.

Then I heat embossed a metal embellishment with Steel Colour Embossing Powder.

I added splatters in the Colour Artist Inks and also using a Colour Shimmer Cube in Steel.

I also did some colour matching, by painting some paper flowers in Colour Artist Inks in Spice.

And here is my final page... I have layered some materials and lace under the photo and added a few key embellishments and stickers to finish.

"Smile" by Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here today with my latest design team project for you. Today I have a mixed media scrapbook layout to share that features Colour Artist Inks, Colour Paste, Colour Shimmer Spray and Colour Embossing Powder. I created this page to document when one of my boys lost his first tooth.

To create my page, I started by prepping my cardstock with some white heavy gesso, so that I could move the inks around when I applied them. 

I then applied some 'Oasis' Colour Artist Ink using a brush to spread it around; then tilted my page in different directions to get the ink to run. I also used the excess ink on my brush to add some splatters, before drying it off with a heat gun. I then repeated the process using 'Marine' Colour Artist Ink, layering it over the top of the 'Oasis'. Again I dried with a heat gun, as I wanted the look of the water lines.

The next step in my process was to add some texture using Colour Paste and a Flutterby Designs stencil. I used 'Tangareen Dream' Colour Paste, as this provided a complimentary colour contrast to the blue inks I had used. Once I had applied the paste, I used a heat gun to dry it off.

At this point I decided my page didn't have quite enough splatters, so I used 'Tangareen Dream' Colour Shimmer Spray to add some more. (I simply took the nozzle out of the bottle and flicked it about.)

After I had added the extra splatters, it was time to add some extra depth to my page with some stamping. I used a couple of stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps, which I stamped directly over the top of my dry paste. (You can see how well it works if you ensure the paste is completely dry.)

With my background complete, I set my page aside and turned my attention to my embellishments. I had some wood veneer pieces from Cocoa Vanilla Studio that I wanted to use, and I altered them using Colour Embossing Powder. I chose 'Steel' as it gives a great chrome-like appearance and is a good choice for boy pages.

With my embellishments prepared, it was now time to add some papery layers to my page. I used Cocoa Vanilla Studio papers and die cuts to create a layered mat for my photo.

I then added some frayed gauze before placing my photo on top; before sticking my title piece directly onto my photo using foam tape. Then it was simply a matter of adding my embellishments and some extra stamping around my page to finish it off. 

The small phrase stickers I used were also from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

The fabulous heart embellishment I used to layer under my embossed arrow was from Charms Creations.
