Hello Crafty Peeps!
I would like to share this page I
created using a photo taken during a recent retreat in Melbourne with this amazing
and talented chick, Amanda Hartmann.
Pictured here, are the Colour Blast products used with this project. I have add more specific details and links throughout, for your convenience!
To start, I used this cool butterfly cut file from D-lish
Scraps. With a pencil, I traced the butterfly onto watercoloured paper.
With a brush and water I applied patches of the following
colours onto the base of the butterfly...
Dark blue: To create a dark Blue I combined Roadbase and
Carribean Colour Sprays together. I was really happy with this result!
Tangerine: Tangareen Dream Colour Shimmer Cube.
Blush Colour Shimmer Cube and water as desired.
For the yellow I wanted a darkish tone – I combined both
Sunshine Colour Shimmer Cube and Coffee Colour Spray.
Don’t hesitate to experiment and mix colours to your heart’s
desire!
While the butterfly base was air drying, I painted the frame of the
butterfly using the left over ‘dark blue’ ink mentioned above.
After I prepared the butterfly it was time to work on the
background. Firstly, using the White Gesso and a generic credit card sized piece
of card: by the way the Gesso is fantastico!
It dries so quickly.
Next, I randomly applied crosses using a
stencil and a craft spatula. I put the butterfly roughly in position, to help
decide where to add crosses. Tangareen Dream, Lipstick and Bling Colour Pastes were the
three gorgeous colours I chose to match with the painted butterfly.
Once the Colour Pastes had dried, I splattered the
background with the left-over inks I had prepared earlier for the butterfly.
I embellished
the background with hand-punched butterflies and scattered star sequins over
the page.
I did some stamping onto the background using a black permanent ink.
Once I was happy with all this I added the photo!
It sure was a joy to put this page together, as Amanda has
been a great inspiration to me!
