Hello and welcome everyone to the Colour Blast Blog. A wonderful place to gather and get inspiration or to join in the fun. This month Colour Blast has kicked off it's very own challenge for everyone to join in and to win a prize!! Even though I can't win the challenge as a Design Team member I wanted to have fun and play along so I created this layout titled Mermaid Hair... don't care.
If you want to join in the fun of the challenge you just need to create a piece of artwork that meets the criteria listed below and then upload it to the August Challenge Album on the Colour Blast Creative Corner Facebook Page.
To kick off my layout I did the plastic packaging technique where you apply some liquid colour to the plastic and then press it down onto your cardstock. This technique works well with both the Colour Sprays and Colour Shimmer Sprays. Here you can see me using Royalty Colour Shimmer Spray.
One of the products to use for the challenge is Colour Spray - for this layout I used both Bubblegum and Carribean Colour Sprays to build up my background with the plastic packaging technique.
Here is what the background looked like once I have finished the plastic packaging technique on it. I love how this technique gives a water like painting effect.
The second product to use for the challenge was Colour Paste, so I applied some Bling Colour Paste through a stencil over the top of my background.
The final product was Colour Mica Powder which I mixed up with some Dimensional Magic to create a super shimmery media that when dries looks awesome and can go on to just about every surface or object. Here you can see me mixing a small amount of Cool Mint Colour Mica Powder with the Dimensional Magic.
Once I had mixed the Colour Mica Powder into the liquid I applied small dots to my background using a wooden skewer.
Here is what the background looks like now.
As I a little of the Colour Mica Powder and the Dimensional Magic goes a long way I had some left over so I applied the surplus to some wood veneer hearts.
I had a heap of fun using the three products in the criteria of the challenge and it was super easy to do as all the Colour Blast products mix and match so well.
To finish off my layout I applied some pattern paper, stickers and a title.
Well I hope that I have inspired you to get out your Colour Blast products and to give our very first Colour Blast Challenge a go.
Hugs
Tracey
