Double Embossed "Travel" by Melissa Struhs

Morning Bloggers! As I raced around this week and thought about all of my scrapping deadlines and I wondered how I would come up with an inspiring project and how I would find time to do it, I came to the conclusion that a half finished project might be the way to go.

There is a reason this may look familiar to some of you, it utilises 2 previous experimental samples that I have used as blog posts before. I planned to add them as embellishment clusters to a layout when I first made them but then changed my mind and decided they would be used in a smaller pocket page.

When I looked at the elements I already had, I really just needed something with gorgeous texture. While I was trying to tidy this week, and was putting away some embossing folders, I found a textured flourish / vine pattern that I really loved. So a small sample piece began from one piece of embossed white cardstock.

And since my favourite product is the Colour Embossing Powder, I wanted to find a new way to combine the two.

I discovered my green inkpad was quite dry and would only have enough ink to add colour and not be wet enough to grab the embossing powder.

I heavily swiped, a clear embossing medium onto my craft sheet, turned over my embossed and inked cardstock and rubbed the medium onto the raised surface.

It is a little hard to see in this pic, but the wet and glossy look is what will grab the embossing powder...

sprinkle heavily with Apple of my Eye Colour Embossing Powder and tap lightly to remove excess and heat set. Sometimes, what starts out as an experiment actually works.

I loved the look so much that I quickly cut myself two 3x4 journal sized cards and replicated the technique

so I could have them to add to the pockets.

These pieces were also experiments from this earlier blog post....Transparent Pocket Cards.

Here are today's double embossed looks....

and then on the outside of the pockets, my title / tag cluster was added.... you can check out the "Travel" tags blog post here.

3 seperate experimental blog projects all coming together in one finished project, it really is a a great chance to play and just hand yourself over to being creative without restraint.

Here's a little close up so you can see all over the elements close up. With the weekend ahead, I am planing to settle in and create  up a storm, who's with me???

Till next time,
Mel.
