A Writer's Journals by Rachel Dutko

Hello Colour Blasters! Rachel Dutko with you today,
and I am so excited to be bringing you my first project for Colour Blast!

I was so excited to start using the Black Heavy Gesso
so today I have made a couple of altered journal covers.

My Mum is a novelist and writer, so I had the inspiration to make her a couple of notebooks
so she can jot down all the ideas she has at 3am

I covered the covers of the journals with Black Heavy Gesso, using an old rewards card.

To continue the writer's theme I raided the kids' pencil cases for some old pens and pencils
and covered them in Black Heavy Gesso also.

Next I used Envy and Lipstick Colour Pastes through a stencil.

I embossed all my chipboard pieces with Rose Petal, Envy and Snow White Colour Embossing Powders.

I also coloured some more chipboard with Heavy White Gesso, then painted with Lush Colour Shimmer Dust.

Then it was just a matter of adhering all the pieces
on with gel medium.

My final touch was a touch of Snow White Colour Paste and White Heavy Gesso around the edges for some dimension, and a spray of Snow White Colour Shimmer Spray over the pens for some shimmer.

These kinds of journals would make great gifts for a creative friend,
or unique hand-made teachers' end-of-year 'thank you' gifts.

Thanks for stopping by,

Rachel
