Hi there Colour Blast fans! Amy Prior back with you today to share a quick tutorial using lots of gorgeous Colour Blast products alongside some of the gorgeous 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams Collection products that Colour Blast is now stockist for.
Spread some White Heavy Gesso through the 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams stencil randomly over a piece of 7 Dots Studio patterned paper and then set that aside and allow it to dry completely.
Spray some 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams Chipboard pieces with Colour Shimmer Sprays. I have used the following colours; Envy, Deep Water, Stormy Weather, and Tangareen Dream. Set these aside to dry while you move on to the next steps.
Stamp some letters onto a 6x6 sheet of 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams paper using the 7 Dots Studio Writer's Block Stamp Set. I have used Archival Ink in black and the letters to spell my title which is MARSHMALLOW.
Once the Archival Ink has dried completely. Use a 1/2 inch circle punch to punch out the stamped letters or simply fussy cut them out using scissors or a craft knife. To finish these off, I have added some 1/2 inch epoxy dots over the top for a bit of added shine also.
Once the White Heavy Gesso is dry on the background paper, splatter some Colour Shimmer Spray randomly over the gessoed area focusing on the sections that will be still visible after layers are added later. For the first layer of splatters I have used the following Colour Shimmer Sprays; Envy, Deep Water, Dusty Charcoal, and Stormy Weather.
When using both warm and cool colours, it is crucial that you avoid creating mud by accidental mixing, unless this is the look you are going for of course. Warm and Cool colours will always mix together to great shades of brown so the best way to avoid this for this particular layout is to simply dry the cool colours first then splatter the Tangareen Dream Colour Shimmer Spray over the top again.
Cut some layers of 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams paper to go underneath your photograph and ink the edges using some Black Archival Ink and a Blending Tool or an old sponge. When the ink has dried, layer your papers underneath your photograph alongside some die cut elements from 7 Dots Studio and a doily.
Step 8: Using a black Posca pen or similar paint pen, doodle around the edges of the 7 Dots Studio chipboard pieces that were sprayed with Colour Shimmer Spray earlier. Cut some of the chipboard circles in half so that they can be tucked in to make it look like you have more circles than you actually do. Waste not, want not!
Finish embellishing the layout with the letters that were created earlier plus some other die cut elements from the 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams Collection. Add some ink around the edges using a blending tool to help any die cut pieces pop off the page more and foam tape is great to help add dimension when sticking things down also.
Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!
Amy Prior xx
