Hi Elisa here,
I decided to make my own mixed media background using the
same check pattern as my son was wearing and I thought immediately of the Colour Shimmer Dusts in Midnight and Candy.
Draw a grid pattern with a waterproof black marker, making
sure its missing a few squares around the sides to grunge it up.
Using a paint palette add a small amount of dusts and then add water to the dusts then using a paint brush paint within the squares in a check pattern. Dry each colour first otherwise they will run together.

Gesso your chosen chipboard. Using a texture die cut two
or three pieces in black and I also used an old piece of netting from around a
toy.
Using texture stamps and word stamps and a versafine
inkpad in black stamp on various areas. I used a variety of great stamps
including Kaisercraft, 49 and Market and Prima.
Using Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste and a script stencil I added some extra texture and depth to my page.
Using a chevron stencil and a white gel pen trace around the inside of the stencil onto your page.
Put your layout and elements together! I cut the chipboard frame up into two pieces then glued all my layers together.
Here are some Close ups.
And the end result...
Thanks for stopping by,
Until next time,
Elisa
