Hello there fellow Colour Blast lovers, Melinda here with you today sharing an entry I made in an art journal as part of a circle journal swap I am a part of!!
AND I have a process video of my pages coming together! You can see that here!! Otherwise, read on for close up's and more details!
So, first up I started with a coat of gesso on both sides of the brown paper bag album I was working in and then I used a black paint marker to write a bunch of seemingly random words all across the pages. My theme in this journal was "A Day In Your Life" and it was the middle of school holidays when I received it so my first thought was "Really, how does one scrap/journal chaos?!" Haha! So all the words are very relevant to a Mum in the middle of the school holidays with a pair of little boys who are a bit crazy!!
After that was all dry I grabbed a bunch of my Colour Blast Colour Pastes - Rose Petal, Lovely Lilac, Singin' the Blues, Sunshine, Tangerine Dream and Steel and random applied colour with a palette knife!
This is what the page looked like when I had finished applying all the different colours! Chaotic, yes?! Some of the paste is quick thick in places and in others not so much but I love the depth that that helps to create!
I had googled "family chaos quotes" or something to that effect and found this one and thought it was perfect! "Our family has just the right mix of chaos and love" I pulled a bunch of alphas from my stash, some old thickers that I knew I wouldn't use, some random chippy letters I have had in my stash for years and also (the littlest ones!) some chippy ones from Dusty Attic. They all got a coat of black paint and after that was dry I went in with a silver paint marker through all the middle of the letters for an extra pop.
I didn't feel that the silver was enough of a pop, they kinda blended into the page a little with that chaotic background, so did some outlining with my white paint maker.
The extra pop I was hoping for with the white paint marker around didn't quite do enough so I decided to put some of the same marker onto the letters and BOOM! there was that pop I had been hoping for! I finished up with some splatters of Roadbase Colour Spray and some enamel dots in all the different colours.
I love how this spread came together and in the end I think it totally captured where my days were at that point in time!
Here are some close ups of my completed page, I hope you like my pages and that you get your fun goodies out to have a play!
